Reservation Policies

There is not a maximum number of nights for reservations. All groups make a reservation for a minimum of 2 nights. The Pilgrimage is open 365 days a year; you can make a reservation arriving and departing on any day that you desire. Our facility can hold a maximum of 40 people. Depending on the time of year we have minimum group size requirements. If you would like to bring fewer people than our minimum group size, you must still pay for our minimum numbers. If you are bringing 30 or fewer people to The Pilgrimage, you may be sharing the space with another group.

Payment Policies

Payment must be made by check or cash. Checks are to be made payable to "The Pilgrimage" and can be mailed to:

The Pilgrimage
2201 P St NW

After the initial reservation is made the Pilgrimage staff will email you a Deposit Packet that includes two agreement forms and an invoice form for your deposit and payment plan.

Payment Plans

Our minimum for booking the entire space (in order to have the space to yourself) is 35 spots.

The programming fee is $350 for weekend groups and $500 for week long groups.

Our cleaning deposit is $250 and will be due as a completely separate check 3 months ahead of your arrival date.

  • College groups owe a 50% deposit 2 weeks after making a reservation and a 50% final payment. Final group numbers and final payments will be due 3 months ahead of your arrival date.
  • All other groups owe a 35% deposit 2 weeks after making a reservation, a 35% payment 6 months before arrival, and final group numbers and final payment are due 3 months before arrival.

Each of these payments are non-refundable.

Change Policies

After your final payment is due and a change in your group number occurs please be aware of the following:

  • If the number of participants has increased, please contact The Pilgrimage staff to ensure space availability. We will give you the additional payment balance and an appropriate due date if we have room to accommodate your increase in numbers.
  • You have until three months prior to your arrival to decrease your numbers and be eligible for a refund. If the number of participants has decreased after this date, we are unable to make any refunds. You may bring fewer people than you made your reservation for, but you must still pay for people who do not come.

Arrival and Checkout Policy

We welcome your arrival at The Pilgrimage at any time; we do NOT have a specific arrival window. However, we do ask that at least two weeks ahead of your arrival you let us know your planned arrival time as arrangements must be made for staff to meet you and facilitate your orientation.

We guarantee that someone will greet you if you plan to arrive by 7:30 pm. As such, if at all possible, we ask that you try to plan on arriving before this time. If your requested arrival time is after 7:30 pm, we will make alternative arrangements for your arrival.

There is NO specific checkout time. Your reservation allows you to keep your possessions at The Pilgrimage the entire day of your checkout date if you wish.

Cancellation Policy

The Pilgrimage regrets that we are unable to refund your payment in the event of a cancellation. The Pilgrimage incurs costs for staff time in preparing for your group, administrative costs in coordinating your reservation, cancellation, and program, as well as the cost of uncapitalized revenue from others who would like to use our facility and have been turned away because we are holding your reservation.

Space Sharing Policy

You will be sharing The Pilgrimage space with another group. We like to see sharing space as a way of building community between different groups, justice interests, life journeys, and denominations. Like any type of community building, sharing space takes some work and effort from everyone involved.

As a hostel, there is much common space to be shared. Conflict can potentially occur, but is often mitigated if you have discussed expectations prior to your arrival. Your time with us at The Pilgrimage will be much more successful if this common spaced is shared in a respectful manner.

We have given you phone number/email of the group leader(s) you will be sharing the space with; please contact each other. Some of the following questions are important logistical questions that must be attended to. Of particular note is the consideration of bed space. At The Pilgrimage we take reservations by number solely; we do not partition a certain number of beds by male/female. Also, The Pilgrimage does not assign bed space to each group. You will have to work out with the other group(s) how you want to split up the bedrooms.
