When are you open?

We are a year-round facility.

Where are you located?

The Pilgrimage is centrally located in the business and residential district of Dupont Circle, which is in the heart of Washington, DC. Via public transport or taxi we are close to Regan National airport, Dulles International airport and Union Train Station. We are also easily accessible to the Washington, DC public transit system of Metro with a subway stop four blocks away on the Red line as well as on the routes of several Metro bus lines. Dupont Circle is a vibrant shopping and restaurant district of the downtown area and is walking distance to Georgetown, Embassy Row and Adams Morgan.

How can we get to DC?

We have parking accommodations for up to 5 vehicles so you can drive down if you wish.  The DC metro subway system goes between Dupont Circle and Ronald Reagan National Airport and between Dupont Circle and Union Station, where the train and bus stations are located.

How do we get around DC while we are there?

Driving is always an option; however, parking is not always the easiest in the city. Fuel costs can range from 20-60 cents per gallon over the national average. We suggest our groups use either the subway system or ride the buses. Metro information can be found at www.wmata.com . Week long groups usually spend between $15 and $20 on metro fares. If you are doing a social justice program with us, you will receive both driving and metro directions to all of your service sites. Please note that The Pilgrimage DOES NOT provide any sort of transportation or shuttle service!

What is your facility like?

We have 3 dorm-style bedrooms, a fully functioning kitchen with two refrigerators, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher and all other cooking materials, a small common area and dining area with tables, couches, TV and VCR for recreation, workshops, meetings and communal eating and a men’s and women’s bathroom with showers.  For more details, please refer to our Trip Information page.  The facility is safe and secure. There is only one outside entrance, and group leaders have that key. There is a fire alarm system, and smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are in place at the Pilgrimage.

Will we have the space to ourselves while we are there?

It will depend on the size of your group.  Often, two groups of 15 to 20 will share the space for the week or the weekend.  Our Program Manager will coordinate with both groups to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Is there a staff member on-site?

While the Program Manager does not live on-site, you will be given emergency contact information while you are here.

If we do one of your programs, does that mean we won’t have time for sight seeing?

Our Program Manager will work closely with the trip leader to ensure that the group’s schedule has the right balance of structured time and free time for your group.
